La Quinta has a program for earning Returns points for each nights stay at a La Quinta hotel. We just received in the mail, a flyer for Double Points for every stay.

Sounds like a great deal. The Returns program has been offered for a number of years and we have made conscious decisions to stay at La Quintas in order to earn points for free nights' stay on future trips.

We have accumulated a large number of La Quinta Returns points. On two occasions, however, the La Quinta at the location we were traveling to, would not accept our points. One of the two was the same location where the points were earned.

What good are points if you can't redeem them?

Just had the same experience at Clearwater, FL Central Laquinta. I was notified of this when I booked a room for 2 nights though.

It was explained to me at the hotel that it is up to the management of the hotel whether or not to honor the policy of the chain. There were numerous other issues as well: pets are no longer unconditionally accepted - large breed dogs are out and are now allowed only in certain rooms, so we were not allowed to stay in the room I booked, and were moved to a poolside room, which stunk bad of strong chemicals. Then the next morning, the shower did not function at all. We opted to not spend the 2nd night there.

2nd time in a row we were completely disgusted with LaQuinta and have no plans to continue as a customer of over 20 years, except to hopefully use our free night.
